Journal #10

I have decided to write my paper about assisted suicide. My argument is that assisted suicide should not be illegal. The reason I picked this topic is because I think people should not suffer. However, I don’t think assisted suicide is something that should be just diligently. What I am trying to say is that not everyone can take the easy way out and commit to signing their life away because there were having a bad month. My argument is that people who have a chronic disease with no evident cure, who are close to death anyway, suffering more than they should be, or some other scenario should be allowed to choose how they want to die. Whose life is it anyway? People who disagree have no right to disagree. Not only is it not their life, but also they have no idea what it means to be chronically ill and have to endure pain everyday until they die. I’m not saying i have a clue how that feels, but I am definitely not going to stand in the way of someone who is lucid enough to make this very rational decision. It should be about what the people want, its what the patient wants. I can see there being a problem with the government, obviously, but people who are "pro life" have no say in this because it is not their life. Hopefully with the plethora of information today, there will be a strong enough facts to backup my argument.
